Eurona connects Naturcyl at the height of rural tourism, which has increased its overnight stays by 16% this year

Eurona is convinced that the Internet and satellite technology are more important than ever for the definitive take-off of the ecotourism sector

The company advocates that part of the European recovery funds be dedicated to bridging the digital divide in the rural world

Taking into account that this summer the rural tourism sector has registered an increase of 15.77% in overnight stays compared to 2019, according to INE data, Eurona, the Spanish telecommunications multinational is once again connecting Naturcyl - the Ecotourism Fair of Castile and Leon - convinced of the Internet and satellite technology are more important than ever for the definitive take-off of this sector.

Thus, Eurona, under its commitment to bring Internet to 100% of the population wherever it is, will provide connectivity to the seventy exhibitors and will make it possible to broadcast the event nationwide via Streaming.

The company stresses that, in a critical context such as the present one, the Internet has become a backbone for the digital transformation of the tourism businesses in these areas, as their owners are having to adapt quickly to the new health context, taking measures to guarantee the safety of their guests, by digitalising their service offer and managing their bookings online.

Likewise, the Internet is also key to responding to the demand for services from the new profile of rural tourists or even 'new temporary residents' who consider it a basic necessity to access teleworking, telemedicine, digital education or entertainment while enjoying their stay in this environment.

Taking into account this situation, and the fact that a large part of these areas still do not have a broadband connection, the company thus stresses the importance of a small part of European recovery funds being dedicated to ending the digital divide that still affects the rural world today.

In this context, Eurona positions itself in Naturcyl as an ally of tourism and business in these areas by offering them sustainable technology, capable of bringing high-speed internet immediately to any location, guaranteeing an outstanding stay in a safe space in contact with nature.

According to Fernando Ojeda, CEO of EURONA, "during the pandemic we can say that the Internet has become essential for everyone, but especially for rural tourism which is experiencing a golden age. The Internet and the satellite technology that makes it viable anywhere are multiplying the opportunities for entrepreneurs in this sector and for all those people who, faced with this 'new normality', decide to spend long stays in rural accommodation, being able to access teleworking, telemedicine, digital education and even entertainment at the same speed as they would from the city".
